September 5774, an inspirational month in Darlington.

posted 13 Oct 2013, 10:25 by Peninnah Pappworth-McAllister
For the first time for many years the Darlington community was able to celebrate all the High Holy Days and the festivals of Succot and Simchat Torah in Darlington with a majority of members present for every service.
We had a truly marvellous succah. Many thanks to all the members and friends who came along to design, build and decorate it.
The congregation were delighted on Simchat Torah to be able to honour two long-standing members without whom the synagogue could not easily function. Our Kallat Torah was Joyce Goldberg and Chatan Bereishit, Jimmy Robertson. Everyone including those in wheelchairs joined in dancing our scrolls around the shul.
We have had challenging and thought-provoking services, reflective and quiet occasions and everything in-between ending the month with the great joy and fun of Simchat Torah. The community extends very heartfelt and  grateful thanks to Rabbi Borts for preparing and  leading  an inspirational month of services and making sure that everyone was able to be involved and feel valued.
Thank you too, to our lay leader Ray Honeybourne for preparing and  leading the minchah service on Yom Kippur and of course  to all who helped  with our now customary, magnificent DHC hospitality.
