Two exciting firsts for Darlington in July, 2012

On a visit to the Jewish Museum, Rabbi Barbara Borts was horrified to discover Darlington listed as a defunct community. Darlington Hebrew Congregation has not closed and is alive, lively and well! (She did put the museum straight on the facts explaining that she really knows as she is our Rabbi!)

A few years ago Darlington, now the only Jewish community between Leeds and Tyneside, did move( but only next door) into what had been the rabbi’s bungalow and has a small, but perfectly formed, modern synagogue complete with  kiddush room, kitchen and small library.

Very excitingly we are about to have our first bar-mitzvah and then our first Chuppah in the new building both during July.
