Who knows 13?

posted 9 Apr 2012, 11:23 by Peninnah Pappworth-McAllister

On Friday, 6th April, 13 intrepid travellers from Darlington synagogue were collected by mini-bus from 4 towns in North Yorkshire/Teesside. Full marks go to the Newton Aycliffe 5 and Thirsk 2 for being in the correct spot at the correct time! We reached NRS just in time to join 80 or so Newcastle people for the Seder.

It was a truly tremendous evening being everything a Seder should be, instructive and informative, joyous, participative, though also serious and reflective where appropriate but above all with a marvellously warm community spirit permeating the occasion. The meal was delicious and the organisation flawless. Great thanks are owed to the NRS Guild and especially Linda Scott for all their hard work arranging the evening.

Some of the Darlington crew were all for joining the Rabbi to sing all the verses of all the songs but our bus was waiting so we reluctantly came away…and sang enthusiastically if not always in key all the way home!

A great big thank you goes to Rabbi Borts for leading the Seder and NRS for your warm welcome. We would love to come again another year.
