Yet More Firsts for Darlington! 2nd night Pesach 2013

First Communal Seder in the new(ish) Darlington Synagogue.

There was just enough room to squeeze members, their families and some visitors into our compact Kiddush room for the first ever communal Seder in the new synagogue and the first in Darlington for a number of years. Fortunately we remembered to lean left at the same time! The Seder was led by Rabbi Barbara Borts and we were able to say shehecheyanu not once but twice as we were also using our just- delivered-from –the-printers, Reform haggadot for the first time as well. Rabbi Borts ensured that everybody had a turn reading and felt involved. It was a communal seder with a real family atmosphere and many people have  taken the trouble to write or email to say how much they enjoyed the evening.

Guests were served a 3 course meal prepared by members Maggie McCulloch and Peninnah McAllister and as is the Darlington custom, everybody present helped with either the preparations or clearing up or  in many cases both.
